Scaffolding

Scaffolding is defined as an instructional skill the teacher demonstrates using the desired learning strategy, task, or teaches an instructional lesson to build foundational knowledge to help students through a growth, then slowly transitions the responsibility to the students. 

Task definition, types of learners, the formality of the learning experience, duration of interaction. scaffolding IS SUPPORTED BY OUR ETHICS OF CARE BECAUSE IS ENCOURAGES THE STUDENTS TO recognize HOW THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS ARE A CRUCIAL part of the LEARNING EXPEREINCE.

    

A FEW WAYS INSTRUCTORS CAN INCLUDE SCAFFOLDING IN THE DESIGN PROCESS IS...

  1. Model performance both direct and indirect instruction.  

  2. Identification and arrangement of steps incorporated in learning activities. 

  3. Various levels of prompts, cues, hints, guides and structures to promote acquisition. 

  4. Fade when appropriate, (most to least).
